Crimson Device Set Up
Congratulations on starting your BCI journey with your Crimson Devices! Crimson headbands use special metallic conductors which will detect small electrical signals on your scalp that come from your brain. This device also uses Bluetooth to communicate with your computer. In order to make the best use of this tech, we will need learn how to set up this system for the first time and a few tips and tricks to keep it running.
Time and Resource Commitment:
- First time setup and learning to use your materials will take approximately 10 minutes. Afterwards, setting up your device for each use will take less than 30 seconds.
- You will need to have one computer capable of accessing the internet with a Chrome browser.
- You will need to have one fully charged Crimson device. Charging instructions are provided in the below setup video.
- You will need to work through a NeuroMaker BCI web app, so please ensure that your institution’s firewall allows access.

NeuroMaker BCI Connect Software Set Up for Crimson
NeuroMaker BCI Connect for Crimson pairs your Crimson hardware with your computer through a Bluetooth connection. Setting up your crimson device to your computer will occur through a chrome browser and will enable you to visualize your EEG data through a web app.
Please follow the instructions in the video to connect your Crimson headband to your browser.
Focus 1 Set Up
Congratulations on starting your BCI journey with your Focus 1 Devices! The Focus 1 Hardware uses special sensors made of Hydrogels which will detect small electrical signals on your scalp that come from your brain. This device also uses WIFI to communicate with your computer. In order to make the best use of this tech, we will need learn how to set up this system for the first time and a few tips and tricks to keep it running.
Time and Resource Commitment:
- First time setup and learning to use your materials will take approximately 45 minute to one hour. Afterwards, setting up your device for each use will take less than 30 seconds.
- You will need to have one computer running a Windows 10 or MacOS Big Sur operating system with WIFI enabled.
- You will need to have one fully charged Focus 1 device. Charging instructions are provided in the below setup video.
- You will need to install NeuroMaker BCI software so please ensure your institution’s firewall or operating system allows downloads.
